A late-night incident near Shankar Nagar Square has once again brought attention to the growing rowdiness in Nagpur’s nightlife. A 48-year-old woman was booked by Ambazari police after she allegedly created a public disturbance in an inebriated state around midnight on Sunday, May 25 near the Starbucks outlet.
According to police reports, the woman, who resides under Ajni Police Station limits, was found shouting and misbehaving in public. A police patrol team approached her to diffuse the situation, but she reportedly began abusing the officers and shouted defiantly.
She was then escorted to a nearby medical facility, where alcohol consumption was confirmed. It later came to light that she had been to a nearby nightclub, where she had allegedly consumed excessive liquor and caused a scene.
Ambazari police have registered a case under sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for obstructing government work and creating public nuisance. She was later released with a legal notice.
The episode has sparked renewed concerns about public behavior, law enforcement, and safety measures during late-night hours in Nagpur, especially in bustling areas like Shankar Nagar.
