As expected, the city had rain for about half an hour on Tuesday evening, but even this short rain caused many problems. The heavy rain and strong winds made it hard for people outside, so many had to take shelter under bus stops, shop roofs, and flyovers.
Traffic slowed down due to waterlogging on several roads, and visibility dropped for a while. Many two-wheeler riders had to stop mid-journey because of the sudden downpour. To add to the trouble, power cuts were reported in multiple areas due to the stormy weather.
The India Meteorological Department had issued a red alert earlier in the day, warning of thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds up to 60–70 km/h.
