In a bid to revitalize public spaces and promote community well-being, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) have announced major redevelopment projects for two prominent grounds in the city—Kachi Visa Ground in Lakadganj and the historic Reshimbagh Ground in South Nagpur.
The NMC has sanctioned a ₹1.2 crore upgrade for the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Kachi Visa Ground located in Prabhag No. 23. The project, which is expected to be completed within 270 days, will include civil infrastructure improvements such as RCC construction, paver block pathways, fencing, and landscaping. Once completed, the area will be transformed into a functional space suitable for sports, recreation, and community events.
Simultaneously, the NIT is spearheading a revamp of the Reshimbagh Ground—one of Nagpur’s most historically significant and expansive public grounds. Once a hub for local cricket and public gatherings, the ground has suffered from frequent use for non-sporting functions, including large tents and temporary installations that have damaged the surface.
In response, the authorities are now focused on restoring Reshimbagh Ground into a dedicated sports-friendly venue. The redevelopment plan aims to protect this cherished urban green space while supporting healthier lifestyles and nurturing local sporting talent.
City officials emphasize that these initiatives reflect a broader commitment to reclaim open spaces for public use. “Such grounds are more than just land—they’re community assets where people gather, children play, and local talent grows,” said a senior official involved in the project.
