Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, Hudkeshwar Police on May 28, 2025, arrested Mrunal Vijay Ghaywat, wife of self-proclaimed psychologist Vijay Prabhakar Ghaywat, along with his close aide Pallavi Kishor Belkhode, for their alleged involvement in the sexual exploitation and blackmail of multiple minor girls. The duo had been on the run for over six months and were finally apprehended from the Wathoda area by a police team led by Senior PI Dnyaneshwar Bhedodkar, under the guidance of ACP Narendra Hiware.
Accused Ran Therapy Centre as a Front
The main accused, Vijay Ghaywat, operated the Manovikas Mind Development Center in Manewada, posing as a psychologist and offering therapy for concentration and behavioral issues. A female survivor, who had enrolled for sessions in 2014, approached the Hudkeshwar Police alleging that Ghaywat had sexually assaulted her under the pretense of treatment.
She revealed that he had intoxicated her with alcohol, coerced her into physical relations, and recorded obscene videos and photos which were later used to blackmail her. Following the complaint, police registered a case under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, the POCSO Act 2012, and the Juvenile Justice Act 2015.
More Victims and Evidence Surface
During the investigation, Ghaywat’s mobile phone was seized, leading to the recovery of objectionable material involving other minor girls, believed to be his former students. As more survivors came forward, three additional FIRs were registered, bringing the total to four criminal cases against him.
Police found that both Mrunal Ghaywat and Pallavi Belkhode had allegedly played active roles in helping Ghaywat commit the crimes, and had been absconding since the case came to light.
SIT Formed to Handle Investigation
Acknowledging the serious nature of the case, Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Singhal constituted a Special Investigation Team to led the investigation.
