In a broad daylight theft on Friday morning, gold ornaments worth ₹4.85 lakh were stolen from the residence of a 79-year-old man in Mankapur while his wife was away on a morning walk. The incident occurred between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM at Plot No. 24, Gadge Baba Society, within the jurisdiction of Mankapur Police Station.
According to police, the victim’s wife had inadvertently left the back door open while leaving for her morning walk. An unidentified thief took advantage of the opportunity, entered the house through the open door, and stole gold jewellery from a cupboard in the bedroom.
Following a complaint by Ashok Vasudev Patil (79), an FIR was registered at Mankapur Police Station under Section 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and questioning nearby residents as part of the probe.
