The Maharashtra government has issued a fresh COVID-19 advisory following an increase in cases across the state. As of June 1, there are 485 active COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra. While this rise is not yet a major surge, health officials emphasize the importance of caution and preventive measures.
Nagpur currently has 10 active cases; five patients have recovered and been discharged, while the rest are under home isolation with mild symptoms. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has heightened health surveillance and communicated with hospitals like IGMCH and GMC to prepare for any potential increase in patients. Urban Primary Health Centers are being equipped with necessary supplies and trained staff, and the NMC has instructed its health stores to maintain sufficient stocks of medicines and equipment.
The advisory urges citizens to wear masks in crowded and enclosed spaces, maintain physical distancing, and practice regular hand hygiene. Anyone experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, or cold should seek medical advice promptly to prevent further spread.
Vaccination rates in Nagpur remain good, but booster dose uptake has slowed. Eligible residents are encouraged to complete their vaccine schedules to strengthen immunity.
At present, no lockdowns or curfews are planned, but authorities will monitor the situation closely and take action if needed. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official channels and continue following safety guidelines to keep Nagpur safe.
Precautions to Follow:
Wear masks in crowded, enclosed spaces
Maintain physical distance and avoid gatherings
Wash hands regularly
Seek medical advice if symptomatic
