In a major action under the special drive ‘Operation Thunder’, the Nagpur City Police carried out simultaneous raids at three illegal hookah parlours across the city, leading to the detention of 36 individuals and seizure of materials worth ₹1.49 lakh. The action was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal and led by the Police Inspector (NDPS) along with the Anti-Narcotics Cell, in coordination with Sitabuldi and Ambazari Police Stations.
The first raid was conducted at Fursh Café and Lounge located in Gokulpeth under Sitabuldi Police Station limits. During the operation, 28 individuals were found smoking hookah inside the premises. Police seized 14 hookah pots, various flavoured tobacco packets, gas cylinders, pipes, and other equipment valued at ₹30,000.
The second raid took place at Hash Café near Laxmi Bhavan Square under Ambazari Police Station limits. Here, six persons were caught smoking hookah. The police confiscated 15 hookah pots, 13 chillums, 22 pipes, several hookah flavours, a laptop, and other related materials. The total value of the seized items was estimated at ₹72,370.
The third action was carried out at LSD Café near another square in the same Ambazari jurisdiction. Two individuals — the owner and a staff member — were found operating the establishment. The police recovered 17 hookah pots, 33 pipes, hookah flavours, a laptop, and other accessories valued at ₹47,060.
In total, the police apprehended 36 individuals including owners, employees, and customers from the three locations. The total value of the seized hookah-related items stands at ₹1,49,430. The operation was executed efficiently by Police Inspector Mr. Gulhane and his Anti-Narcotics Cell team.
Nagpur Police have once again appealed to the citizens to report any illegal hookah parlour operations or drug-related activities in their area. The department has assured that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
