In a major initiative aimed at encouraging adventure sports and instilling a spirit of bravery among students, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has approved the construction of an Adventure Park at the Lata Mangeshkar Garden in Surya Nagar. The project, with a proposed budget of Rs 8.79 crore, has received administrative sanction and is set to become a key attraction under the city’s smart development initiatives.
The location for the new park was earlier occupied by the old auditorium stadium, which has now been demolished, creating open space. Additionally, around two acres have been designated for children’s play areas. As per directions from Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari, the new facility will feature 15 different adventure-based activities.
Detailed planning has been completed in coordination with expert agencies specializing in such parks. The ₹8.79 crore proposal includes ₹4.58 crore for civil and landscaping works, and ₹4.20 crore for the installation of adventure games and related equipment.
Dr. Chaudhari emphasized that this project would not only beautify the city but also provide a healthy, engaging, and energetic outlet for the youth. The proposal includes development of internal pathways, fencing, smart toilets, office and ticket rooms, and other necessary infrastructure. Landscaping with lawns and ornamental plants will enhance the park’s aesthetics.
The construction work will be undertaken through a formal tender process and is expected to commence soon.
