Gittikhadan Police apprehended a 23-year-old youth in possession of a loaded pistol near Futala Lake on June 3, averting a potential criminal act. The accused was nabbed during evening patrol following a specific intelligence input.
Around 6:30 pm, the police team received a tip-off that a man wearing a red t-shirt, riding a white moped, was loitering suspiciously near Sonu Pan Tapri, close to the lake, and was carrying a firearm. The patrol unit immediately reached the location and intercepted the suspect based on the provided description.
The individual was identified as Prajat Rajesh Panchariya, a resident of Plot No. 339, Soyog Nagar, Nari Road, Kapil Nagar, Nagpur. During a spot search in the presence of witnesses, police found a country-made pistol with a magazine and one live round concealed in the vehicle’s storage compartment.
