The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a show cause notice to the newly established Government Medical College in Amravati, relating to deficiencies in basic facilities and teaching staff.
The college was inaugurated in October last year, and permission to fill up 450 posts was granted. The recruitment process, however, could not be completed. The NMC has expressed discontent over deficiencies in the college in its inspection report.
NMC stated that the college has less than 50 percent of the teaching staff as prescribed in the Commission’s Maintenance of Standard Medical Education Regulations 2023, rule 8. The NMC also directed the college to immediately start the recruitment process.
