Commuters on Koradi Road are facing severe traffic congestion due to ongoing repairs on the Railway Overbridge (ROB) between Mankapur Stadium and Fars. After structural cracks were found, one lane of the ROB was shut down for three months, forcing two-way traffic into a single lane and causing major delays, especially during peak hours.
Adding to the chaos, the adjoining service road—meant to be an alternative route—is riddled with illegal parking, encroachments, and poor maintenance. Near liquor shops, vehicles are parked haphazardly, and heavy vehicles use the narrow lane, worsening traffic.
The nearby Railway Underbridge (RUB) near Fars is also in poor shape. Loose paving blocks and a lack of drainage cause severe waterlogging during rains, making it unsafe for use.
Although repair work on the ROB finally began in early June after weeks of delay, another bridge section near Koradi Naka is also under construction, adding to the traffic burden. Meanwhile, authorities have taken little action to clear roadside encroachments, including a weekly market near Vox Cooler that occupies the full service lane on Mondays, leading to frequent jams.
Despite the availability of alternate routes, there’s been no serious effort to manage commercial activity or regulate parking. Residents and commuters are urging civic authorities to expedite repairs, improve underpass conditions, and reclaim encroached service roads to restore smooth traffic flow on this crucial stretch.
