The much-anticipated Vidarbha Pro T20 League 2025 kicked off on June 5 with a grand opening ceremony at Jamtha Stadium, featuring a dazzling performance by renowned Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam. Despite the high-profile launch, the tournament has seen a disappointing turnout, with largely empty stands and only team owners visible cheering for their respective squads.
The cricket league features six teams: Nagpur Titans, Pagariya Strikers, Bhrata Rangers, NECO Master Blasters, Orange Tigers, and Nagpur Heroz. The tournament follows a single round-robin format, where each team will play the others once. The top four teams will advance to the semi-finals, with the final match scheduled for June 15.
While the organizers expected a strong response from cricket lovers in the region, the reality has been underwhelming. Nagpurians have largely stayed away from the stadium, leading to visibly vacant seating areas during matches. The situation came under further scrutiny after a local social media influencer shared a video highlighting the poor spectator response, sparking discussions online about the event’s outreach and marketing.
As the league progresses, it remains to be seen whether crowd participation will pick up in the coming days.
