A 45-year-old woman was apprehended by Jaripatka Police on Thursday night for possessing mephedrone (MD) powder valued at ₹89,860. The contraband was allegedly kept for sale at her residence in Lumbini Nagar, near Ramai Buddha Vihar.
Based on a credible tip-off, a police team patrolling the area conducted a raid at the residence of Priti Anil Gajbhiye around 11:30 pm. During the search, officers found 44.93 grams of MD powder hidden in a zip-lock pouch inside a kitchen container.
The accused was reportedly storing the substance for illegal sale and personal financial gain. She was arrested on the spot and booked under Sections 8(c) and 21(b) of the NDPS Act. Police have seized the narcotics and launched a detailed investigation.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of DCP Niketan Kadam and ACP Satyawan Bandiwar, with the assistance of PI Arun Kshirsagar, PSI Shashikant Tayade, and other officers from Jaripatka Police Station.
