A group of girls was harassed by some boys while returning home from a birthday party in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
According to a media report, the incident happened late Thursday night near Mahadev Ghat. The situation turned violent when one of the boys allegedly bit off a girl’s finger during the attack.
The girls, who are said to be from Bilaspur and Korba, were reportedly stopped and brutally assaulted on their way back.
The girls filed a complaint with the police following the incident, though the motive behind the violent act remains unknown.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. The footage shows the assailants attacking the girls as they try to defend themselves.
In the video, one boy is seen harassing a girl while she attempts to resist. Shortly after, more boys join in and begin assaulting other members of the group.
Another boy is seen dragging a girl, causing her to fall, after which two more boys arrive and drag her further along the ground, the clip shows. Another boy is shown pulling a girl by her hair as she struggles to break free.
Raipur Superintendent of Police Umed Singh confirmed the incident and said that police took note of it based on the viral video.
“The assailants are yet to be identified. A case has been registered against the boys. We are investigating the matter to get details about the other party (the assailants),” the SP said
