In a chilling incident from Sangli, Maharashtra, a 27-year-old woman allegedly killed her 54-year-old husband with an axe on Vat Purnima, a festival where married women pray for their husbands’ long lives.
The incident, which unfolded just three weeks after their wedding, shares disturbing similarities with the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case that recently made headlines.
What was meant to be a sacred and symbolic day turned tragic as the woman reportedly struck her husband on the head, killing him instantly. The motive behind the crime is currently under investigation.
Anil had lost his first wife to cancer and was living alone, with his two married daughters settled elsewhere. Due to his loneliness and health issues, a relative arranged his second marriage to Radhika, a resident of Wadi village in Satara district. The couple tied the knot on May 17.
Radhika has since been taken into custody. However, the exact motive behind the murder is still unclear.
In a similar case, Sonam Raghuvanshi confessed on Wednesday to plotting her husband’s murder with the help of her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha, exactly one month after their wedding on May 11.
Sources say Sonam broke down during interrogation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) after being confronted with strong evidence against her.
