An 18-year-old youth from Vishwakarma Nagar died under suspicious circumstances, prompting Ajni Police to register a case of culpable homicide against his friend.
The deceased, identified as Aryan Vilas Wahile, a decorator by profession and resident of Lane No. 10, Vishwakarma Nagar, had been staying away from home for the past eight days. On June 10, 2025, around 9 AM, he was found sleeping on the footpath near Ajni Road and was brought home by his father and friends. After drinking coconut water, Aryan went to sleep, but later that night, around 9 PM, his health deteriorated, and he was rushed to Government Medical Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Initially registered as an accidental death, the case took a serious turn after the postmortem report revealed a head injury. During further inquiry, Aryan’s friend disclosed that on June 9, Rahil Shyam Hajare (24), a resident of Lane No. 9, Vishwakarma Nagar, had allegedly struck Aryan on the head with a metal bangle, which likely caused the fatal injury.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, Vilas Sakharam Wahile, and findings from the inquest and statements, Ajni Police have now booked the accused under Section 105 and Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Further investigation is underway.
