A security guard posted at a scrap shop in Nandanvan was found murdered in the early hours of Saturday, triggering panic in the locality. The incident took place around 2 am, and the assailants involved in the crime remain unidentified.
The deceased has been identified as Abdul, who was employed as a night watchman at the shop. According to police sources, Abdul was allegedly attacked by unknown individuals during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. He suffered serious injuries and died on the spot.
Following the incident, Nandanvan police personnel reached the location and sent the body for post-mortem to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). A case of murder has been registered at Nandanvan Police Station, and a probe is underway.
Police teams have launched a search operation to nab the accused, and are scanning CCTV footage from the area while also questioning locals to gather leads. Further investigation is in progress.
