The Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has achieved a key milestone in the ongoing redevelopment of Nagpur railway station, marking substantial progress in the construction of the West Wing-3 basement parking facility — a core element of the station’s modernization initiative aimed at improving commuter convenience and reducing surface congestion.
The redevelopment is being carried out in two phases. Phase I, spanning 1,800 square meters, was completed and handed over in September 2024. It currently serves as a surface-level parking zone, while associated mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and firefighting (MEPF) systems, along with interior finishing, are under active development.
Phase II, which covers an additional 1,620 square meters, has also made significant headway. Both excavation and foundation work have been finalized, and 90% of the basement slab has been cast. Shuttering work for the remaining 10% is in progress. Once this phase is complete, it is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion around the station by offering a modern and spacious parking area for commuters.
Commenting on the development, Aman Mittal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (SrDCM), stated, “This project reaffirms our commitment to building smart, efficient, and passenger-focused infrastructure, positioning Nagpur as a future-ready railway hub.”
The station redevelopment project aligns with Indian Railways’ broader vision of creating world-class, commuter-friendly transportation infrastructure across the country.
