In a disturbing incident from Nagpur’s Sadar area, a college student staying in a rented room was secretly filmed while bathing by a man known to the house owner. The accused, identified as Ashwin Dasar, allegedly used the video to blackmail the student into maintaining a friendship with him. When she resisted, he reportedly issued death threats and threatened to throw acid on her face.
According to a media report, the victim, a student at a private college in Nagpur, lodged a complaint with the police. Acting swiftly, the authorities arrested the accused and filed a chargesheet within just 15 hours. Police confirmed that Ashwin Dasar is a relative of the woman who owns the house where the student was residing.
During his visits to the house, Ashwin Dasar allegedly installed a hidden camera and recorded a video of the student while she was bathing. He later confronted her with the footage and began blackmailing her, pressuring her into a forced friendship.
Disturbed by the harassment, the student moved out of the rented room and shifted to a hostel, hoping to escape the ordeal. However, Ashwin allegedly continued to stalk her and even tracked her to the new location.
The situation took a frightening turn on Wednesday when Ashwin allegedly confronted her on the street, threatening to kill her and throw acid on her face if she continued to avoid him. Fearing for her life, the student approached the Sadar Police and filed a formal complaint.
Taking swift action, police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Under the supervision of PI Thakre and with the efforts of PSI Santosh Shirdole, the accused was arrested, and a chargesheet was filed within 15 hours — a prompt and commendable response by the authorities.
