Nagpur: In a swift and commendable action, the Sadar police have filed a chargesheet within just 15 hours against a 26-year-old man for allegedly molesting and blackmailing a 21-year-old college student. The accused had reportedly filmed the victim while she was bathing and used the video to threaten her.
According to officials, the incident took place between June 18, 2023, and June 10, 2025. The victim, a student at a reputed college in Nagpur, was residing in rented accommodation in the Sadar area. The accused, identified as Ashwin Satish Dasar, nephew of the house owner, used to frequently visit the premises. He allegedly recorded a video of the victim in the bathroom without her consent and later showed it to her, threatening to leak it online.
When the victim protested, Ashwin physically assaulted her. Due to ongoing harassment, she shifted to a hostel, but the accused continued stalking her. On June 18, 2025, he again confronted her in the Sadar area and issued violent threats, saying, “If you don’t befriend me, I’ll release your video, rape you, and throw acid on your face.”
Following her complaint, police registered a case under Sections 77, 78(1), 79, 115(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Acting promptly, police collected technical evidence and recorded witness statements, completing the investigation and filing the chargesheet within 15 hours.
