Nagpur: Dhantoli Police have registered a case against a 50-year-old woman for allegedly duping a senior citizen of ₹5.8 lakh on the pretext of securing Metro Rail jobs for known students using her so-called political influence.
According to the complaint filed by Vandana Manoj Ingale (59), a resident of Usha Apartment in Surendranagar, Bajaj Nagar, the accused — identified as Pratibha Patil, a resident of Kunjilal Peth, Bhagwan Nagar — met her in the jurisdiction of Dhantoli Police Station.
Between November 1, 2022, and June 19, 2025, Pratibha allegedly gained the complainant’s trust by claiming strong political connections and offered to arrange jobs in Metro Rail for some students known to Vandana. Believing her, Vandana handed over ₹5.8 lakh.
However, no employment was arranged, nor was the money returned, leading to allegations of breach of trust and financial fraud.
Acting on the complaint and conducting a preliminary inquiry, Dhantoli police registered a case under Sections 318(4) and 316(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). PSI Jadhav has been assigned to investigate the matter further.
