A bold urban leap is taking shape on Nagpur’s western edge. The Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has launched a game-changing 1,780-acre Central Commercial District (CCD) in Hingna — a project already earning the title ‘New Nagpur’ among officials and planners.
Spread between Mouza-Gothangaon and Mouza-Ladgaon — nearly 65 km from the city — the CCD will fuse malls, IT parks, high-rise offices, industries, and housing into a next-gen, fully integrated township. High-capacity roads, underground utilities, and green corridors are part of the ambitious blueprint.
“This is not just a layout — it’s Nagpur’s BKC moment,” said a senior NMRDA official, referring to Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex. “We’re building a self-sustaining district with unmatched speed, scale, and transparency.”
Key to this promise is a new single-window system — offering time-bound clearances for industries and businesses, wiping out red tape and delays that have long stifled investor confidence.
The CCD’s location couldn’t be more strategic — sitting close to MIHAN, the Hingna MIDC belt, and with direct access to the Samruddhi Mahamarg. Buzz is already growing around a potential dedicated airport near the site to boost business aviation and cargo.
The legal groundwork was laid on June 23 via a Section 37 notification under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966. It reclassifies agricultural, water body, and residential lands across dozens of khasra numbers for commercial use — clearing the decks for the transformation.
With an estimated cost of ₹13,000 crore — mostly backed by central funds — and NMRDA Board approval in place, only a final cabinet nod remains before construction of ‘New Nagpur’ begins in full force.
