Barely weeks after its grand inauguration, potholes have surfaced on the newly opened 76-kilometre stretch of the Samruddhi Mahamarg between Igatpuri (Nashik) and Amane (near Mumbai), sparking serious concerns over motorist safety. According to a media report, the high-speed corridor, meant to reduce travel time and boost connectivity, is now raising eyebrows due to poor road quality.
The stretch was inaugurated on June 5 with much fanfare by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde. However, commuters are now questioning the durability of the road.
According to a media report, a Mumbai-based motorist who travelled on the expressway this Sunday shared alarming photographs showing multiple potholes on the asphalt surface of a bridge near the Shahapur exit. Considering the expressway is designed for high-speed travel, such surface damage poses a serious risk to motorists.

Authorities are yet to respond to the complaints, but the incident has prompted calls for immediate repair work and a thorough review of the construction quality on the prestigious project.
