Following large-scale complaints against the Orange City Water (OCW) about irregularity in water supply to many localities, the Maharashtra Chief Minister has directed the Municipal Commissioner to start the procedure to cancel the OCW’s contract.
During a review meeting about the city’s issues, Fadnavis, along with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, warned OCW to improve the water supply system within a month. Fadnavis directed the Municipal Commissioner, Dr Abhijit Chaudhari, to issue a show cause notice and initiate the procedure to end the contract with OCW.
Earlier, Gadkari, on May 20, had warned OCW of improving the water supply system. On June 22, he expressed anguish over the failure of the company to improve the system.
The city is getting 750 MLD of water every day. OCW, however, had failed to manage proper distribution in the city.
