Nagpur is poised to make history this Saturday with the inauguration of the country’s first-ever Constitution Preamble Park. Scheduled for 11 a.m. on June 28, the landmark event will be led by the Chief Justice of India, Dr. D. Y. Chandrachud Bhushan Gavai, at the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar School of Law, RTM Nagpur University, near Law College Square.
The innovative park aims to serve as an educational hub, offering a dynamic and interactive space to explore the ideals, debates, and aspirations that shaped the Indian Constitution. Targeting students, legal minds, and citizens alike, the initiative promises to deepen public understanding of constitutional values through modern exhibits and installations.
As part of the ceremony, a life-size statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar will be unveiled alongside the inauguration of a renovated library and office facility.
Former Chief Justice of India, Justice Uday U. Lalit, will unveil the statue, while Supreme Court judge Justice Dipankar Datta will preside over the ceremony. Several eminent members of the judiciary will be in attendance, including Supreme Court Justices Prasanna B. Varale and Atul Chandurkar, Bombay High Court Chief Justice Alok Aradhe, Nagpur Bench Administrative Judge Justice Nitin Sambre, and Justice Anil Kilor. Senior Advocate Tushar Mehta, Solicitor General of India, and Maharashtra Advocate General Birendra Saraf will also be present.
Earlier in the day, at 4:30 p.m., CJI Gavai is expected to inaugurate the newly constructed lawyers’ chambers at the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court.
The following day, on June 29 at 10:30 a.m., the Chief Justice will also inaugurate the administrative building of Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Nagpur. The event will be attended by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and several judges of the Supreme Court and Bombay High Court.
