Govindrao Wanjari College of Engineering and Technology has inaugurated the e-Yantra & Robotics Lab in college premises in association with IIT Bombay on 30th June, 2025. The project e-Yantra is an initiative to spread education in embedded system and robotics by IIT Bombay sponsored by Ministry of human resource development through the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT). The objective is to provide hands on learning to engineering students who have limited access to labs and mentors. The goal is to create the next generation of (Embedded System) engineers in India with practical outlook to take on challenging problems and provide solutions.
e-Yantra set up initiative supports the infrastructure creation at colleges by providing a platform for training teachers both in theory and applications of robotics in addition to provide guidance in setting up a robotics lab at the college. With regard to this initiative, GWCET (Govindrao Wanjari College of Engineering and Technology, Nagpur) has expressed intent to participate by identifying the team.
The online inauguration of e-Yantra lab carried out in the presence of Dr. Salim Chavan, Principal GWCET, Nagpur, Prof. Shubha Pandit, Advisor, e-Yantra, Dr. Hemant Bhagat Patil, Academic Co-ordinator, GWCET, Nagpur, Dr. Rakesh Shrivastava R&D co-ordinator, GWCET, Nagpur, team of faculties from Department of Electronics and Telecommunication leaded by Prof. Sameer B. Ashtekar with team members Prof. Ashwini Waghale, Prof. Deepak Bhongade and Prof. Vivekanand Thakare (CSE Dept.).
The ceremony started with an opening address by Prof. Shubha Pandit, Advisor, e-Yantra, IIT Bombay followed by Lightning a diya and a symbolic ribbon cutting ceremony by Principal, HODs and faculties. After this a formal address given by Dr. Salim Chavan, Principal GWCET, Nagpur.
