Nagpur residents made history on June 30, pouring a record-breaking ₹5.88 crore into the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) coffers in a single day — the final date to claim tax discounts.
From April 1 to June 30, 2025, NMC collected ₹88.85 crore in property tax — a 20% jump from last year’s ₹73.13 crore for the same period. This wasn’t luck — it was the result of aggressive digital drives, heavy public outreach, and solid incentives.
Of the total, nearly 97,000 citizens paid online, contributing ₹49.92 crore, while another 95,000 paid offline. NMC’s 15% discount for online payers and 10% for offline drove taxpayers to act — and act they did, with some offices reporting late-night queues on the last day.
Commissioner Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari and Additional Commissioner Vaishnavi B didn’t wait for results — they hit the ground, held review meetings, and personally followed up with taxpayers. Special camps were set up in schools, parks, and bastis under Deputy Commissioner Milind Meshram’s leadership.
From posters featuring Gabbar Singh to mobile vans blaring tax slogans, NMC went all out — and it worked.
Laxmi Nagar Zone led with ₹13.90 crore, followed by Hanuman Nagar and Mangalwari zones. Even traditionally weak zones stepped up.
Nagpurians showed they won’t wait for notices — they’ll lead by example. The message is clear: pay on time, save more, and power your city.
