Nagpur: In a major action against the illegal sale of e-cigarettes and hookah-related products, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Unit of Nagpur Police raided Mehfil Smoke Shop, located opposite Children’s Traffic Park on Mata Mandir Road, Dharampeth. The operation was carried out under the jurisdiction of Sitabuldi Police Station between 7:00 pm and 9:05 pm on Tuesday.
During the raid, the police arrested two individuals — Vaibhav Vikas Kamble (27) and Shubham Vikas Kamble (31), both residents of Baba Buddha Nagar, Pachpaoli, Nagpur. Acting on specific information, the police team found the shop selling banned e-cigarettes, foreign cigarettes, and hookah materials.
The seized material includes 17 web e-cigarettes, 17 packets of foreign prohibited cigarettes, hookah pots, pipes, flavored tobacco, a two-wheeler, four mobile phones, a DVR system, and cash. The total value of the seized goods is estimated to be ₹3,36,070.
A case has been registered at Sitabuldi Police Station under Sections 4, 5, 7, and 8 of the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, along with relevant sections of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA). Further investigation is underway to identify other links involved in the illegal sale of such products in the city.
