The Central Government is set to launch a new online module on July 4, allowing coal block operators to submit exploration proposals digitally through the Single Window Clearance System.
According to an official release, the new module will streamline the entire coal exploration process—from proposal submission and geological report approval to final clearance—through a unified digital interface. The initiative is designed to ensure greater transparency and maintain defined timelines at every stage of the approval cycle.
Developed in collaboration with the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited (CMPDIL), the platform is part of the government’s broader push for complete digitalisation of the coal exploration value chain.
Introduced in 2021, the Single Window Clearance System aims to provide a centralised digital platform for securing all necessary approvals related to coal mining. The portal enables stakeholders to access various statutory permissions, including mining leases, mine closure plans, environmental and forest clearances, and land acquisition approvals—making the process faster, more efficient, and user-friendly.
