For most of us, chocolate is a comforting, familiar treat, whether it’s a bar of silky milk chocolate or a bite of rich, dark decadence. But an unexpected twist in flavour can turn an ordinary bite into an unforgettable experience. Embracing their adventurous taste buds, &TV actors Sonal Panwar (Malaika, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan) and Vidisha Srivastava (Anita, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai) share their most unusual Chocolate encounters. Sonal Panwaressaying Malaika in Happu Ki Ultan Paltan recalls, “During a trip to Goa, I stumbled upon chilli-infused dark chocolate. At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the moment I tasted it, I was taken aback in the best way! The spicy kick from the chilli combined with the bitterness of dark chocolate created a strange yet strangely delightful sensation. It left me confused for a second, but then completely fascinated. I loved it so much that I ended up buying several bars to take home and share with friends, just to see their reactions! I have always had a sweet tooth, but that moment opened a whole new world of flavours for me. Since then, I have started enjoying chocolates that offer something different, like sea salt caramel, lavender-infused truffles, or even paan-flavoured treats. It’s exciting to see how creative and bold chocolatiers have become in recent years.”
Vidisha Srivastava essaying Anita Bhabi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai shares, “While vacationing in Thailand, I came across a blue cheese truffle. At first, I thought it was a joke, cheese in chocolate? But curiosity got the better of me, and I gave it a try. To my absolute surprise, the tanginess of the blue cheese blended beautifully with the rich, smooth chocolate. It felt more like a gourmet experience than a dessert. That one bite changed how I look at chocolate. Of course, I still have a deep love for the classic milk chocolate, nutty plains, and silky ganache. But now, I am also drawn to the more daring combinations, think chocolate paired with bacon, wasabi, or even fresh basil. It’s fascinating how versatile chocolate can be when you are willing to explore beyond the usual. These memorable moments remind us that sometimes the most delightful experiences come from stepping outside our comfort zones, even when it comes to something as universally loved as chocolate.
