A 40-year-old female teacher from Bombay Scottish High School, Mahim, identified as Bipasha Kumar, who has been accused of sexually assaulting a male student, will undergo a psychological evaluation.
She was arrested by Dadar Police on Saturday after the student’s parents filed a complaint.
Bipasha Kumar, a mother of twins, is alleged to have developed an inappropriate interest in the student and reportedly lured him to five-star hotels and secluded locations, where she allegedly served him alcohol and engaged in sexual activities. These incidents are said to have occurred over the past year.
According to a media report, Kumar, who lived near the school and taught English, had resigned from her position in April. Individuals associated with the school claimed they were unaware of any such behaviour. “We have a zero tolerance policy towards such conduct,” a source added.
Bipasha Kumar was remanded to police custody by a POCSO court until Wednesday. The police requested an additional day to conduct a psychological profile, and the court granted the extension.
It is alleged that she first took the student in her car to an isolated spot, asked him to undress and had sex. She then used to take him to different five star hotels and forcibly have sex with him after serving liquor over the past one year. The boy’s parents got alarmed when they noticed distinct changes in his behaviour. Since he was in his final year, they decided to wait. But since there was no sign of his depression reducing, they complained to the police.
The police said so far parents of other students have not approached them with complaints against Bipasha Kumar. The police are also questioning another woman who was on friendly terms with the student victim.
School principal Sunita George stated that the school is fully cooperating with the investigation and clarified that none of the alleged incidents occurred on school premises.
Meanwhile, police are looking for a woman who allegedly assisted the teacher in establishing contact with the victim.
