Nagpur’s seasoned chess player Suhan Deshpande won the title of Jayhind 8th One Day Open Rapid Chess Tournament held at Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj Mandir Parisar, Balaji Nagar, Nagpur. The event was organised by Jayhind Chess Association which was recognised by Chess Association Nagpur. Shri Dayashankarji Tiwari, President Bhartiya Janata Party Nagpur was the Chief Guest of the inauguration function along with Miss. Bharti Vikas Bunde Ex. Corporator and Senior BJP leader Mr. Vikas Bunde who inaugurated the tournament.
Suhan Deshpande on way to title scored 7 ½ points out of 8 rounds to be a clear winner. Sharma Sai, Sabir Adnan and Shourya Ambone scored 7 points each and were placed 2nd to 4th respectively based on their tie break scores. Paris Kubde and Arav Moon scored 6 ½ points to finish 5th and 6th after applying tie breaks.
Suhan got Rs. 2000/- as winner prize and a glittering trophy. Sharma Sai got Rs. 1500/- as Runner up prize and a trophy. Sabir Adnan got a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- and trophy. Apart from prizes to top 9 main prize list winners, prizes were also distributed to Top finisher from Veteran Group and Under-7, 9, 11, 13 and Under-15 age group.
The tournament was organized under the valuable guidance of Shri Bhushan Shriwas and Shri S. S. Soman of the Chess Association Nagpur
Prizes were distributed at the hands of Jagdish Choudhari President, Vaibhav Choudhari General Secretary, Sandesh Shahu Treasurer, Nishant Shahu, Joint secretary, Rohit Shahu Executive Member, Abhijeet Choudhari, of Jayhind Chess Association.
FA Shiva Iyer was the Chief Arbiter of the tournament who was assisted by FA Amit Tembhurne, SNA Prayas Ambade, SNA Shyam Agrawal and Amit Jaunjal.
