Content creator Priyam Saraswat, known for exploring extraordinary homes across India, recently gave viewers a glimpse inside a stunning gold-covered mansion in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. In his latest video, Saraswat showcases opulent interiors where walls, ceilings—even switchboards—gleam with 24-carat gold.
The mansion, owned by Anoop Agarwal, a government contractor involved in road and bridge construction, also houses an impressive collection of vintage and luxury cars. Saraswat was granted exclusive access to film the lavish property, offering audiences a rare look at one of India’s most extravagant private homes.
However, the video sparked widespread criticism online. Social media users accused the mansion’s owner of misusing public funds to finance his lavish lifestyle, leading to a wave of backlash. In response to the controversy, Priyam Saraswat removed the original video from his channel.
Despite the deletion, the clip resurfaced after it was shared by the official Twitter handle of the Kerala Congress. The party questioned the public’s silence on the matter and called for accountability from the affluent contractor.
Taking to X (Formerly Twitter), the political party wrote, “Why are our highways collapsing, bridges falling into the river? Find the answers here. The Govt contractor from Indore has built a house where taps and switches are made of gold. He has ED proofed himself by building a Gau Shala in his house. People who wanted to ED to raid the Pani puri wala who earned 40 lakhs by working hard wouldn’t want the ED to visit this gentleman’s house.”
Reacting to the post, a user asked, “Will EC, ED, IT raid the house now and will investigate how a government contractor can live in such a lavish villa?”
Another shared, “In India, flaunting riches gets a salute, fixing roads gets a shrug. Only the Pani puri wala gets grilled for working hard.”
“No wonder the condition of Roads in MP is pathetic,” a comment read.
An individual stated, “Why isn’t ED doing anything. This man and his CM connections must be investigated immediately.”
Another wondered, “That cow shed is definitely built for the video, definitely temporary.”
One social media user, tagging the Income Tax Department, commented, “Bridges collapse even before inauguration, and roads get potholes within a year because of people like you. You breed more corruption than you prevent.”
In the now-deleted video, Anoop Agarwal shared details of his rise. He recalled that his joint family of 25 once owned just a single petrol pump. Realizing it wouldn’t be enough to support everyone, he decided to venture into government contracting. Over time, his company began handling large-scale projects such as building roads, bridges, and other public infrastructure.
