In a move to boost educational infrastructure, the state government has approved the direct allotment of land to the Late Bhanutai Gadkari Rural Development Institute for setting up a primary school in Mouza Parsodi. The decision was formalized through a recent resolution by the Urban Development Department.
The institute, named after the mother of Union Minister and Nagpur MP Nitin Gadkari, will receive land currently held by the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT). The plot is already earmarked for school development in the city’s Development Plan.
The allotment will be made under Rule 26 of the NIT Land Disposal Rules, 1983, along with provisions in Rules 5(2) and 20(2). The land will be given at 50% of the current market value, based on a proposal approved earlier by the NIT General Body.
The institute must deposit the amount within the specified timeline and use the land strictly for constructing a primary school. Any deviation—such as failure to build or misuse—will result in the land being reclaimed by NIT.
The NIT Chairperson has been made responsible for ensuring the plot is not under litigation and that no court orders are violated before handing it over.
Local residents and education activists have cautiously welcomed the move, emphasizing that transparency and adherence to the intended purpose are essential for the project’s success.
