A heated argument over work responsibilities between two scrap workers took a violent turn in Gokulpeth Market on Saturday, when one of them attacked the other with a sword in broad daylight. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Ambazari Police Station.
The injured victim, identified as Suraj Kumar Gupta, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries and is currently under critical medical supervision.
According to police, Gupta and the accused, Zaid Ali, were employed at Agrawal Scrap Shop in Gokulpeth. The dispute reportedly began over allegations of unequal workload. As the argument escalated, Ali allegedly picked up a sword from the scrap pile and assaulted Gupta in full public view.
Eyewitnesses immediately alerted the police. A team from Ambazari Police Station responded swiftly and apprehended the accused at the spot. Based on Gupta’s complaint, a case has been registered against Zaid Ali under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections for attempt to murder.
The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to determine the motive and sequence of events.
