Nagpur is back in COVID’s grip—and this time, it’s spreading fast. After months of calm, the city has recorded over 100 cases, marking the virus’s strongest comeback in seven months. From just 10 cases in May, the number exploded to 73 in June, with 8 more in the first five days of July alone. Three deaths have already been reported—two last month, one this month.
The virus isn’t just creeping in—it’s gaining ground.
Currently, 14 patients are active, with 7 hospitalized and 7 in home isolation. Cloudy weather and rising viral infections have already overwhelmed many, and now COVID has returned to complicate the health crisis. The virus is hitting the vulnerable—children and the elderly—the hardest.
Dr. Gavardhan Navkhare, NMC’s epidemic officer, says most patients have mild symptoms: fever, dry cough, throat pain, fatigue. But he warns: “If you’re above 60 or have pre-existing health issues—don’t wait. Seek medical help immediately.”
People must act now. If you’re sick—stay home. Wear a mask. Avoid crowds. Test early. Isolate quickly.
The NMC has not yet imposed restrictions, but with cases climbing, officials are on high alert. The message is clear: COVID never left—it was just hiding.
Nagpur must respond with urgency, not complacency. Prevention is still the best defense. The virus is back—what we do next decides how hard it hits.
