To tackle the ongoing monsoon-related issues in the city, the Shraddheya Atal Bihari Vajpayee City Operation Centre (COC) has been fully activated. Operating 24×7 in three shifts, the centre is closely monitoring all rain-related developments using CCTV cameras installed by the Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation.
Heavy rains lashed Nagpur from Monday morning following alerts issued by the Indian Meteorological Department. To minimize public inconvenience, municipal staff have been actively managing the situation from early morning, focusing on low-lying areas, waterlogging, and traffic congestion.
Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari and the leadership of Additional Commissioners Mrs. Vasumana Pant, Mrs. Vaishnavi B., and Mr. Ajay Chartahankar, various teams from the sanitation, transport, grievance redressal, and Smart City departments are working in coordination from the COC.
Prompt action teams were dispatched to flooded areas to clear water, easing traffic flow and providing relief to citizens. The regional disaster management unit of the fire department is also monitoring emergency cases, including tree falls and fire incidents, with support from the city’s CCTV network for real-time assessments.
Citizens can contact the disaster control helplines for immediate assistance. NMC officials are working round-the-clock in three shifts to ensure quick redressal of complaints, demonstrating the civic body’s full preparedness this monsoon.
