A 60-year-old man died after receiving an electric shock while operating a water heater at his residence in Kapil Nagar on Tuesday evening. The incident took place between 6:00 pm and 8:20 pm on July 9, 2025.
The deceased has been identified as Munna Govinda Bulkude, a resident of Plot No. 69, 3rd Line, Baba Deep Singh Nagar, located behind the Gurudwara in Kapil Nagar. According to police, Munna Bulkude was at home attempting to heat water when he suffered a severe electric shock from the heater. He lost consciousness on the spot.
Family members immediately rushed him to Mayo Hospital for medical treatment. However, doctors declared him brought dead after examination. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local neighborhood.
Following a statement by the victim’s wife, Nanda Munna Bulkude (50), an accidental death case has been registered at Kapil Nagar Police Station. Police Sub-Inspector Avinash Khatke is leading the investigation. Further inquiries are underway to confirm the cause of the electrocution and verify if the device was faulty.
