The Kanyadan Yojana, a scheme launched in 2003 to support couples participating in mass marriage ceremonies, continues for the year 2025–26. Under this initiative, the parents of the bride receive a financial grant of ₹25,000, while the organizing body is granted ₹4,000 per couple.
Eligible couples are invited to submit applications through the organization conducting the mass marriage ceremony. Applications must be submitted to the office of the Assistant Commissioner, Social Welfare, Nagpur, along with the necessary documents. The last date for submission is July 31.

Eligibility Criteria:
- The bride and groom must be domiciled in Maharashtra.
- Either the bride or groom (or both) must belong to one of the following categories:
- Scheduled Castes (SC)
- De-notified Tribes (DNT)
- Nomadic Tribes (including Dhangars and Vanjaris)
- Special Backward Classes (SBC)
- Other Backward Classes (OBC)
- The groom must be at least 21 years old, and the bride must be at least 18 years old.
- The scheme is applicable only for the first marriage of the bride and groom. Widows are not eligible. However, a woman may be eligible for remarriage under specific conditions.
- A valid caste certificate issued by a competent authority is required.
Criteria for NGOs/Organizations Organizing Mass Marriages:
- Must be registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 or Public Trusts Act, 1950.
- A minimum of 10 couples (20 individuals) is required to organize a mass marriage ceremony.
- Kshetra Bandhan restrictions do not apply to organizing bodies.
How to Apply:
- Applicants must submit a complete application to the organization conducting the marriage as per the government-approved format and criteria.
- All applications collected by the institution must be submitted to the Assistant Commissioner, Social Welfare Office at least 15 days before the scheduled ceremony.
