As per the School Bus Policy regarding the safe transportation of school students, the Maharashtra Government has Maharashtra Motor Vehicles (Regulations for School Buses) Rules , 2011 rules have been made. The said rules have made provisions regarding the safety of school students on the vehicle owner, driver and school management.
In accordance with this provision, from the point of view of safe transportation of school students as well as in a public interest litigation, the Hon’ble High Court , As per the directions given by the Nagpur Bench, it is necessary to renew the regular fitness certificate of school buses, school vans and autorickshaws.
Accordingly, the school vans and autorickshaws whose certificates of fitness have expired at present , Such vehicle owners should immediately renew their school vehicle and autorickshaw eligibility certificates. Otherwise, if school vehicles and autorickshaws are found plying on the road without a valid eligibility certificate, action will be taken under the Motor Vehicles Act , said the transport official .
