The much-anticipated Amravati Road flyover, spanning 2.85 km from the University Campus to the RTO, has entered its final phase with load testing currently in progress—signaling a major step toward project completion.
On Saturday evening, trial load assessments began at Ravi Nagar and Law College Square. Trucks filled to 25% of their maximum capacity were stationed on the structure to initiate the tests. These will be gradually scaled to 50% and full load capacity over the coming days, with vehicles remaining parked for 24 hours to monitor structural response. Hourly readings are being recorded via specialized sensors to ensure the flyover meets all safety and durability standards.
Simultaneously, slab casting is underway on the remaining 25-foot stretch over the nullah near the RTO office. Once this final portion is cast and properly cured, the landing segment of the flyover will be completed.
While the project was originally scheduled for completion by July 31, persistent rainfall in recent weeks disrupted drainage work and pushed the expected finish date to around August 15. However, residents have grown increasingly skeptical of official deadlines due to repeated delays across various city infrastructure projects. For many, timelines have become symbolic rather than reliable.
Out of the total slab length, 35 feet has already been completed, leaving just 25 feet to go—bringing this long-awaited infrastructure closer to reality.
