Nagpur: Hingna Police have arrested two individuals for allegedly stealing a donation box from the Gajanan Maharaj Temple in the Khamgaon-Deodi area. The incident occurred on July 16, 2025, between 9 AM and 10 AM, and led to the recovery of stolen property worth ₹21,048.
The accused have been identified as Piyush Harishchandra Kawade (24) and Chetan Ankush Kawale (21), both residents of Deodi Amgaon in Hingna taluka, Nagpur. Acting on a tip-off from an informer, the police detained the duo from the Sawangi Khadan area. Upon interrogation, they were found in possession of one iron donation box valued at ₹700 and cash amounting to ₹20,348, making a total seizure of ₹21,048.
A case has been registered against them under Section 305(D) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) in Crime No. 290/2025. After completing medical examination, both accused were formally arrested.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) and Assistant Commissioner of Police (MIDC Division). The investigation team included Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Bobade, PSI Santosh Rathod, and police personnel Anil (6381) and Sanjeev (6381). Further investigation is underway.
