At just 17, Rajlaxmi Chavan from Kolhapur has launched Avidus, a free digital learning platform that’s making education more accessible for everyone, from kids in villages to senior citizens and working adults.
According to a media report, her platform offers 57 self-paced courses in Marathi, Hindi, and English, covering everyday topics like taxes, banking, elections, financial literacy, mental health, and civil rights. Once downloaded, the app works offline, making it easier for those without regular internet access.
Rajlaxmi has built Avidus from the ground up — creating content, reaching out to learners, and even connecting with them personally via video calls and offline sessions to make learning more effective.
Avidus is already being used in rural areas and homes across India, and Rajlaxmi says people in other countries are also benefiting from it. For many users, it’s their first step into learning things schools often miss.
What started as her personal passion project is now helping people build new skills and confidence — no matter their age or background.
