In a decisive pre-dawn operation under Operation Thunder, the NDPS team, with support from Ambazari and Sitabuldi police stations, conducted surprise raids on several bars flouting legal closing hours in Nagpur. Acting under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, the operation targeted establishments operating beyond the permissible time limit.
At around 4:00 AM, the teams found Barrel Café, Lahori Bar, and De Martini Lounge illegally serving food and liquor, violating the mandated 1:30 AM deadline. The unauthorized late-night operations were not only in breach of excise laws but also raised critical concerns over public safety and law enforcement.
Following the findings, the Excise Department took action against Barrel Café, while Ambazari and Sitabuldi police stations registered offences against Lahori Bar and Martini Lounge. Officials highlighted that such violations contribute to unsafe environments and may serve as hotspots for potential criminal activity.
Nagpur Police has announced that such unannounced night inspections will continue regularly, especially in high-footfall areas known for nightlife. Citizens have been urged to report unauthorized activities and support law-abiding businesses.
This crackdown reinforces the city police’s zero-tolerance policy towards illegal operations and signals a stricter enforcement regime aimed at maintaining law and order during late-night hours.
