Starting with ‘Kush Luv Ramayan gaati’ Geet Ramayan is a presentation that beautifully describes events from Ramayana in the chronological order. Written by G D Madgulkar and songs composed by Sudhir Phadke, Geet Ramayana was acclaimed for its apt lyrics, music and marvellous singing.
South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC), Nagpur has organised ‘smrutigandha’ from December 21 to 24 to mark the birth centenary celebrations of maestros Sudhir Phadke, G D Madgulkar, Ustad Alla Rakha and P L Deshpande, in joint association with Saptak at Kavivarya Suresh Bhat auditorium, Reshimbag.
The inauguration of the event began with lamp lighting ceremony in the presence of city mayor Nanda Jichkar, director SCZCC Dr Deepak Khirwadkar, assistant director Mohan Parkhi, Kunal Gadekar, Deepak Kulkarni, Gopal Betawar, Dr Uday Gupte and Vilas Manekar.
Senior artistes, Kusum Kamalakar, Dr Chitra Modak and performer of Geet Ramayana Shyam Deshpande was feted by mayor during the inaugural function.
Performers of Sanskar Bharati enthralled Nagpur with Geet Ramayana in this four-day programme. 22 eminent Marathi Geet Ramayana songs such as, ‘Dasharatha he ghe pasayadaan’, ‘Ram janmala ga sakhe’, ‘Aaj mi shaapmukta jhale’ were presented by singers, Shyam Deshpande, Amar Kulkarni, Shashank Ghatwai, Gunwant Ghatwai, Akanksha Nagarkar Deshmukh, Vaishali Upadhye and Anuja Joshi Gade. The singers were accompanied by Moreshwar Dahasahastra and Ravi Satfale on Tabla, Shrikant Pise and Parimal Joshi on Synthesizer, Shirish Bhalerao on Violin and Gajanan Ranade and Vikram Joshi on Taalvadya. The compering was done by Renuka Joshi. The choreography of dances performed in Geet Ramayana was done by eminent guru Swati Bhalerao.
‘Gadimayan’ will be presented by Anand Madgulkar and team from Pune in the memory of celebrated writer-poet G D Madgulkar on Saturday, December 22.
