The annual Media Walkathon organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) in association wih Tirupati Urban Cooperative Bank Limited on Sunday (Dec. 23) has evoked good response.
Around 200 media persons are participating in the event that will be flagged off at 7.30 a.m. The participaints will have to report at 7 a.m. Nagpur District Athletics Association secretary Dr Sharad Suryavanhi and Shiv Chhatrapati awardee senior sports organiser Girish Gadge will flag off the event. Social worker Shalini Meghe, general manager of Tirupati Urban Cooperative Bank Limited Rajendra Raut and vice-principal of Dr Ambedkar College Dr Arvind Joshi will grace the prize distribution function that will be held immediately after the event.
The four-kilometre men’s walk will start from Laxmi Nagar square and by taking the route of Aath Rasta square, Jeryl Lawn, (left) Surendra Nagar road, (left) Vasant Nagar road, (left) Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya it will conclude at Dr Ambedkar College ground.
Similarly the two-kilometre women’s walk will start from Dr Ambedkar College Sports Academy gate and by taking the route of Metro Bhavan, Kanchipura square, Bajaj Nagar square, Matru Seva Sangh will terminate at Dr Ambedkar College ground. The first five winners in each section will get cash prizes and mementoes. Apart from it each participant will get T-shirts and refreshments.
