The Maharashtra forest department has reportedly succeeded in capturing one of the cubs of T 1 tigress in the forests of yavatmal on Saturday. The forest minister along with his officials had come in for lots of flak after the killing of man-eater T 1 tigress, whom activists had named as ‘Avni.’It was believed that her two cubs could not survive without her as they were still not fully trained to prey. The forest department had therefore launched a search and capture operation for them too. Four elephants from Madhya Pradesh specially trained in restricting tiger movement had been pressed into service since the last four days.
It is learnt that veterinarians atop one of the elephants managed to tranquilize the female cub after firing the dart. The female cub was then captured and transferred to Gorewada rescue centre at Nagpur
