Gittikhadan Police have revoked the stringent Maharashtra control of organised crime act (MACOCA) charges imposed against Sumit Thakur and his aides in connection with the firing at goon Pinnu at police line Takli market. The incident had taken place on June 26, 2018 under Gittikhadan police Station limits at the police line Takli market when the gangster was at a shop with his friends. Pinnu survived unhurt while a minor and another person sustained bullet wounds. Police have arrested Sumit and six others in this connection. Later they were booked under MACOCA however, during investigation police could not gather enough evidence against them to establish the charges. Police have filed the chargesheet in the court with Sumit and all other accused booked under murder attempt charges. Meanwhile, relief to Sumit and his friends has irked Pinnu and acquittal of Sumit’s aide Santosh Ambekar in Balya Gawande case has increased the possibility of another gangwar like situation.
