In a welcome news the employees of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education would get the seventh pay commission benefit. They would get increment and promotion. The decision in this regard was taken by the board recently. It is pertinent to note here that the state government had recently announced that, the seventh pay commission recommendations would be implemented from 1st January’19.
The promotion of board employees was pending for a long. Staffers have also staged demonstration demanding promotion. A meeting of senior board officials was convened in Pune on December 26 in which the issue was discussed and plan was chalked out to provide promotion benefit to staffers.
The Maharashtra government on Thursday announced its plan to implement the salary hike for its 20 lakh employees as per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, a move which will cost the state exchequer a sum of Rs 52,000 crore. The new pay scale will come into effect from January 1, 2019 and the arrears will be paid from January 1, 2016, when the commission came into existence.
A government note issued after the meeting stated that the government needs Rs 14,000 crore to implement the salary hike and another Rs 38,655 crore to pay the arrears of three years.
Apart from the state government employees, teachers from unaided schools and Zilla Parishad Institutions will also get benefit of the salary hike.
