The way to get free school uniforms for school students has been cleared. The Centre has released the remaining installment of Rs 53 crore under the government’s Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. The State Government had demanded Rs 140 crore, of which Rs 87 crore was disbursed as the first installment.
With the remaining money received, the students from Standard I to VII, belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) will be able to get two pairs of uniforms, a pair of shoes and two pairs of socks. Rs 600 are given for two pairs of uniforms, and Rs 170 for a pair of shoes and two pairs of socks, Additional Secretary of the School Education Department Pramod Patil informed the media.
